About Steve

Biography

Hailing from a family of musicians it was apparent and inevitable, from an early age that Steve would venture into the professional world of music.

Studying trumpet, piano, composition and orchestration at The Royal College of Music and The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, his contemporary and distinctive compositions and arrangements are renowned.

Theatre credits include orchestrating the latest ‘Beautiful: The Carole King Musical’, for which Steve’s orchestrations were nominated for Tony, Olivier & Drama Desk awards. His 2015 Grammy award was for producing the original Broadway cast album of the same show. In 2023 Steve orchestrated and wrote vocal arrangements for Operation Mincemeat. In 2017 Steve orchestrated Jim Steinmsan’s ‘Bat Out Of Hell’. He also orchestrated the West End shows ‘Made In Dagenham’, ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Our House’ and ‘Daddy Cool’. Other theatrical credits include ‘Viva La Diva’ with Darcey Bussell and Katherine Jenkins, ‘Dancing On Ice’ Live Tour and Katherine Jenkins’ ‘Believe’ Tour.

Television commissions include the composition of ‘Elements & Motion’ for the 79th Academy Awards with the Hollywood SFX Chorale, which received an Emmy nomination. Credits for Musical Director include the ‘95th Academy Awards with Sofia Carson & Diane Warren’, the ‘BBC’s Coronation Concert 2023’, the ‘BBC’s Platinum Party at the Palace’, ITV’s ‘Concert for Ukraine 2022’, the BBC special for ‘VE Day 75 years’, the BBC special for ‘VJ Day 75 years’, the ‘Sheridan Smith ITV’ special, ‘Children in Need Rocks the 80’s’, BBC’s ‘Even Better Then The Real Thing’, ‘Buble at the BBC’, ‘VE Day 70’ Concert, the London Olympic Games 2012 closing ceremony, ITV’s ‘The Nightly Show’ with Bradley Walsh & Jason Manford, the ‘2015 Rugby World Cup Opening Ceremony’, ’Robbie Williams Live at The Palladium’, The BBC Music Awards, ‘Live from Edinburgh Castle’, ‘Bruce Forsyth’s Hall of Fame’, BBC The Voice UK Series 1 & 2, ‘Robbie Williams Live At The Albert Hall’, ‘The Robbie Williams TV Special’, ‘Children In Need Rocks The Albert Hall’, the BBC ‘Olympic Handover Concert’, Victoria Wood’s ‘Christmas Special’, ‘Victoria’s Empire’, Chris Moyle’s Big Quiz Night, Ant & Dec’s shows and the opening of The Dubai World Cup.

Advertising campaigns include the award winning Honda Choir (in which Steve is the featured conductor), Honda Illusions, Stella 4%, M&S Christmas featuring Dame Shirley Bassey, Virgin Holidays featuring Charlotte Church, George at ASDA, Robinsons, Nokia Navigator, Heineken, Orange, Bounty, Dulux, Lotto, Walkers, McDonalds, Supernoodles, Coca Cola, Capital Radio and Guinness.

Steve has also contributed to film including tracks for Baz Lurhman’s Moulin Rouge and Romeo & Juliet, Bridget Jones’ Diary, Teachers Pet Spongebob Squarepants, Finding Nemo, Mona Lisa Smiles and 101 Dalmations 2. Steve was the Film Music Co-Producer on Bohemian Rhapsody.

Album credits include the orchestration and conducting of Robbie Williams’ multiplatinum selling album ‘XXV’, ‘Swing Both Ways’ and ‘Swing When You’re Winning’. Steve produced and arranged Bradley Walsh’s Chasing Dreams album, which was the biggest selling British debut album of 2016. Recent projects include recordings with Fayrouz, Sarah Brightman, Helene Fisher, Jack Pack, Jeff Beck, Seal, Dame Shirley Bassey, McFly, Joey Niceforo and Bradley Walsh.

Steve has also performed with many international artists including George Michael, Amy Winehouse, Snow Patrol, Lily Allen, Cheryl Cole, Muse, Dizzy Rascal, Mika, Take That, Annie Lennox, Leona Lewis, Tom Jones, Sting, Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Mick Jagger, Mark Knopfler, The Feeling, McFly, Will Young, Bryan Ferry, Joss Stone, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder, The Who, Ian Dury, Wet Wet Wet, Charlie Watts, Henry Mancini and Michael Nyman.
